Learn how to add cryptocurrency to your MetaMask wallet using various methods.

1 Buy Crypto Directly in MetaMask

The easiest way to fund your wallet is to purchase cryptocurrency directly through MetaMask.

Open your MetaMask wallet

Click on the "Buy" button

Select your preferred payment provider

Follow the instructions to complete your purchase

2 Receive Crypto from Another Wallet

You can receive cryptocurrency from another wallet or exchange by sharing your MetaMask wallet address.

Open your MetaMask wallet

Click on your account name to copy your wallet address

Share this address with the sender

The sender will transfer crypto to your address

3 Transfer from an Exchange

If you already have cryptocurrency on an exchange like Coinbase, Binance, or Kraken, you can transfer it to your MetaMask wallet.

Copy your MetaMask wallet address

Go to your exchange account and find the withdrawal section

Enter your MetaMask address as the destination

Specify the amount and confirm the transfer

Wait for the transaction to be confirmed on the blockchain

Gas Fees

All transactions on the blockchain require gas fees, which are paid in the native cryptocurrency of the network (e.g., ETH for Ethereum). Make sure you have enough of the native token to cover gas fees for any transactions you want to make.

Adding Tokens to Your Wallet

MetaMask automatically displays some common tokens, but you may need to add others manually:

1. Open your MetaMask wallet

2. Click on "Assets" tab

3. Scroll down and click "Import tokens"

4. Enter the token contract address (you can find this on sites like CoinMarketCap or Etherscan)

5. The token symbol and decimals should auto-fill

6. Click "Add Custom Token" and then "Import Tokens"
